Projects

Welcome to my Projects section! Here are some of the projects I've been working on during my time at Columbus State Community College.

Changing Columbus State Community College Website To Be More User Friendly

Through Phi Theta Kappa at Columbus State, we've been working on a college project aimed at building and strengthening a supportive relationship between our chapter and the college administration. The project is ongoing, with a deadline in December. As part of the PTK team, we've been meeting with various departments at the school to improve the user experience on the Columbus State Community College website. My role has focused on communication, data analysis, and creating graphs for our presentations. I've been involved in developing surveys to gather data from around 800 students, analyzing this data, and creating graphs to identify which resources are underutilized and which sections of the college website need improvement.

Addressing Homelessness at Columbus State Community College

Through the Honors Program at Columbus State Community College, we collectively agreed to support our student body by addressing issues such as homelessness and raising awareness of the resources Columbus State offers to students facing these challenges. We also focused on other concerns, including food insecurity, lack of winter clothing, and transportation difficulties. My primary role in this project was to research organizations within Columbus State that share similar goals and find ways to connect them with students in need. One organization I researched and collaborated with was Stowe Mission. They provide not only a food pantry but also healthcare services for pregnant women, dental care, and winter clothing during the colder months.

Through the Women’s Connection program at Columbus State Community College, I had the opportunity to meet Luz Salinas, who has been a major inspiration to me. As a first-generation college student and a Latina in STEM, Luz became a role model I could look up to. During our mentorship meetings, we discussed the importance of representation in STEM fields, which motivated me to work alongside Phi Theta Kappa to raise awareness on this issue. This led to me organizing a school event where we highlighted the need for increased representation and guidance for first-generation Latinas in STEM.

Reshaping Fashion and It's Interconnection with Individuality

My friends and I came up with the idea to create a fashion club, but we wanted it to go beyond just fashion. We aimed to explore the deeper connection between fashion and personal identity. Throughout the club, we created a magazine that highlighted important topics such as fashion for individuals facing accessibility challenges and cultural fashion awareness. My primary role involved conducting research, attending meetings with various departments at Columbus State, and collecting student data to help us achieve our club's goals of raising awareness about the true essence of fashion. I created forms for students to fill out, organized the collected information, and developed graphics to analyze attendance, helping us improve magazine content and plan future events. Additionally, I created calendars and presentations for the fashion club, which were used during our meetings with departments such as Accessibility Services, Career Services, Marketing, the ASL Program, Ohio Thrift, and more.
